Mulberry Classic Regular Alexa Satchel in Chestnut Polished Buffalo (Substandard) - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Mulberry Classic Regular Alexa Satchel in Chestnut Polished Buffalo with with Shiny Silver Nickel Hardware.

The originally styled Lexy (here's one on Mulberry Preloved for reference,) it's crafted from a glossy and grainy, thick yet supple, polished Buffalo hide. A rich, toffee-tan shade, it's a magnificient finish that glows with an almost metallic sheen and repels marks and rain with ease.

A bag you'll never need to baby, it can be carried by hand, on the shoulder or across the body and is the perfect size for everyday.

Purchased from a Mulberry Outlet Store as a substandard piece, (as denoted by the 'O' imprinted on the inner badge,) it can often be difficult to ascertain the reason why these pieces are classified as such. However, the reason this bag failed QA was due to two very inconspicious dots of stray inking on the bag's RH side panel, (see details below.)

Carried extensively but cared for very well, these pieces soften considerably with use relaxing into a much slouchier silhouette than when new. Shown in the Gallery above when completely empty, it dissolves into a glorious puddle, it's so smooshy. You'll need to add in a firm, felt liner if your prefer the more structured look.

A warm caramel tone with a subtle reflective finish that looks almost silvery when the light catches it, the finish is stunning. A small, granular grain with lots of natural striations, veins and creases.....its such a characterful hide and wonderfully robust.

Very little actual wear to the hide, just some light scuffing to the bases corners piping trims.

Stitching is all tight and inking (edge sealant) in place with the exception of the flex cracking to the inking on the aperture (by the D rings) and the flaps sides (where the shoulder strap rests when attached), as shown.

The Postmans Lock Plate displays light surface scratches and finish loss around the turnlock hole, its upper RH side and around the perimeter. Much less noticable than the close up photo below makes this appear. There are light friction scratches between the underside plates from contact and the metal clad, satchel strap tip ends display numerous scratches.

The flat profile, plait feature top handle is excellent and the shoulder strap similarly so with just minor wear to the inner curves of the snap hooks and a light wave across the middle hole where the buckle has been set.

The reason for the *notation is due to the two stray dots of inking to the RH side panel. Present from manufacture, these would have been the reason the bag was classed as substandard. Locations circled and shown with the zoom in the Gallery above.

Lined in clean, thick, dark chocolate cotton linen with a side zipped security pocket and leather trimmed slip pocket.  The underside of the top flap is lined in soft, fine nap microfibre.
