Asked by a Champagne producer to develop a sturdy, stylish bag in which he could transport five bottles of bubbly, Gaston-Louis Vuitton created the iconic Noé design.

That was in 1932. The timeless Noé bucket bag, now reimagined into a charming, more compact, tri-compartment Bucket Bag sporting the original’s signature leather drawstring, as well as an adjusable, long strap for casual shoulder wear.

Details -

Perfectly shaped and upright, (the felt liners are to provide organisation and security, not additional structure,) the firm, grainy, embossed calfskin initially appears perfect.

Natural waving to the drawstring, there is very gentle smoothing to the grain at the corner curves, (no wear,) and one light, diagonal scuff to the front, lower, LH side. A very vague surface rubbing to a small area of the grain on the base's upper RH side, (again barely there, see locations circled and shown with the zoom.)

Stitching all tight and inking (edge sealant) in place with the exception of the flex crackles around the top handles, two end loops, as shown. The moulded top handle is perfectly shaped, however the LV embossing to the top has lessened with use.

The shoulder straps leather and prestuds are excellent and the interior is self lined in clean soft, fine nap, black microfibre with central zipped pocket. Minor scratches and dulling to the embossed zip pull, the main reason this piece has only achieved a Very Good condition rating is due to the paling to the finish on the inner curves of the four snap hooks on the top handle and shoulder strap. The shiny gold finish is slightly dulled from the ineviiable contact scratches, however it's much less noticable to the naked eye.

A much lovelier piece in the flesh than a listing of her faults make her appear!
