The iconic Dior Book Tote, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, (Creative Director Of Christian Dior) was originally inspired by a House’s archive drawing produced by Marc Bohan in 1967. The aesthetics and silhouette of the design may be simple but the intricacy, quality and incredible detail in these pieces has elevated it to icon status.

Crafted in an elegant grey shade, the Toile de Jouy print (dating back to 18th-century Versailles,) was reinterpreted with the introduction of a series of wild animals set in lush vegetation. The Large Book Tote takes artisans more than thirty-two hours of work and over one million two hundred thousand stitches to complete. "A reflection of the House’s virtuoso savoir-faire, the Dior Book Tote exalts the emblems and foundational lines of the women’s wardrobe. This iconic accessory, made using an exclusive technique of three-dimensional embroidery, is adorned with the Toile de Jouy motif. Details -

All photos taken of the piece when empty, the silhouette is well shaped and firm, (folded flat from purchase,) there is no way to convey how much lovelier this piece is in the flesh, than the photos!

The oblique embroidery is stunning, (please note the natural tufts to the surface throughout are inherent to this finish from when new,) the colouration has a almost antiqued tone to the grey colourway, which gives these pieces so much tonal depth.

On first review...to the naked eye..... the bag initially appears unused.

In the photos, you can note a yellowing to the top curve of the shoulder straps, (from the oils of the hand,)  however this is actually, virtually invisible in real life. Very odd, I know but true.

Immaculate interior, no wear to the base corners, all holding stitches tight and shoulder straps perfectly shaped, without any waviness to the form whatsoever.

The reason for the Condition Rating and *notation is due to the age related glue discolouration piece. Located on the front, rear and top corner apertures of the bag, these are present from creation. Artisans use an adhesive in the construction of these pieces and any stray contact from their hands during manufacture will result in the glue residue adhering to the surface. Only darkening and yellowing with time, all marks are shown clearly and in close up detail in the Gallery above. To the naked eye they are unnoticable however have been reflected in the resale price.
