Crafted from a thick, sturdy, dark chocolate toned hide, it has a strong silhouette, so whilst will mould to your side, it will still stand up empty and not slouch.
Very little actual wear, there are no water spots to the surface, no discoloration or flattening to the grain and corners show only very light rubs with a small scratch to the front RH base pipings curve (piping is not exposed or near to being exposed).
A scratch to the upper RH front, by the top corner which is concealed in use by the top flap, this would be greatly improved by a little Colonill cream.
All stitching is strong and though inking, (edge sealent) is dry and worn at the top aperture sides ,to the flap inlets (above the handle bases) and to the shoulder straps, the tapered handle bases are relatively good without splitting or inking loss.
The shoulder straps are, on first review, well shaped and holding their shape well. A little softened and darkened to the tops, where they have been hand held....in use there is no visible detriment. Its only when you manipulate the straps with a little pressure, do you note the rigid inner piping inside the rolled leather straps, has moved* in the front handle. There is a gap from the handle base to where the inner 'tube' starts, of about 5cm, which allows the strap to bend to an angle, its not supposed to! Looks horrendous in the photo above, I've shown it like this to illustrate the issue but in normal use, you'd never move the strap like this and its still firm enough to retain its shape with its inner skeleton. This has been reflected in the price and straps can be replaced by Mulberry, should the buyer wish.
The Postmans Lock Plate displays some friction rubbing around the turnlock hole. The turnlock has scratching to its side and the plates to the underside and base of the bag display friction rubbing, (no tarnish or finish loss). The base feet have finish loss and paling to their apex which is visible as a silver tone to their ends.
The interior is lined in chocolate suede, showing general use and some marking to the LH side slip pocket (less visible to the naked eye than the photos make it appear)
A delightful Bayswater that looks so much lovelier in the flesh than a listing of its faults make it sound.
