Hermès 90cm Silk Square Scarf 'George Washington's Carriage'

This is a 100% authentic Hermès Silk Sqaure Scarf, 'George Washington's Carriage' designed by Caty Latham.

Depicting the carriage newly-inaugurated George Washington rode in 1789 from Federal Hall, (his New York residence), to the Federation's new capital on the banks of the Potomac River, this chocolate and caramely toned piece is an absolute delight. 

From Hermes: "The crowds were ecstatic, and the presidential escort was a fine spectacle indeed. Three years later, in 1792, a watercolour signed by J. Robert Hart gave a carriage-painter’s view of the carriage of George Washington, made in London. The painting is the inspiration for this carré. We like to think that the first presidential carriage, the focal point of that historic day, looked every bit like the one shown here."

Muted tones of dark chocolate, steel grey, peachy golds, bronze and charcoal....the colours have a real retro feel and seem to go with everything.

Condition -  Very Good

 Details -

Light creases to the fabric from being folded, one very vague, pale mark to the dark chocolate border and four, short linear pulls to the fabric (see photo above).

Extremely hard to see with the naked eye and do not effect the piece in any way.

Plump, hand rolled and stitched edges all in place. (Please note, as a craftsman made piece the stitching placement is not equidistant)

The Made in / Composition Label was removed in preparation for its use.
