Mulberry Classic Bayswater Special in Violet Congo Leather - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Mulberry Classic Bayswater Special in Violet Congo Leather with antiqued brass hardware. 

A fabulous vintage Bayswater Special, (made without cloche & feet and is fully lined in Mulberry Tree fabric,) crafted from a beautiful, glossy Amethyst Purple toned Congo leather.

Details-

Carried extensively, this Mulberry is a testiment to the hardwearing nature of Congo. Very little actual 'wear' the corners aren't scuffed, the top handles well shaped and all stitching and inking excellent.

Still quite stiff and glossy, it will stand up when empty, (with a some slouch) and as a sturdy but not thick hide, this beautuful Bays comes in at under 1kg, so lovely and light to carry for a Bayswater.

A rich, jewel tone, there's lots of burnishing to the colouration, lightening and inconsistency in the colour tone around the corner areas and numerous light scuffs and scratches throughout (all shown in the gallery above)

As is so often seen on these pieces there are pressure indentations to the top flap from the handle bases. The two rear areas inparticular have suffered some colour rubbing due to this contact.

A couple of areas of rain spots to the surface of the leather on the upper front, rear RH handles base patch and LH rear side, these are very difficult to see as so well camoflagued by the nature of the printed finish. See quad photo below.

A small splot of inking, (edge sealent) to the front, RH sides flap corner. The inking to the bag itself is all excellent throughout.

The Postmans lock plate is very good with only minor friction rubbing around the turnlock hole and to the sides of the turnlock end. The underneath plates are very good with just light scratches above the hole on the underside top plate.

The shoulder straps can be a tight squeeze on this Bayswater (less generous than the current design) so have been hand held, resulting in discolouration to the undersides, see photo above.

The interior is lined in pristine, black Mulberry tree signature silky repeat fabric.

Proper old-style Mulberry at its finest...... and a bag that looks so much better in the flesh than a listing of its faults makes it sound!
