Mulberry Classic Bayswater Special in Fuchsia Polished Buffalo Leather - SOLD

This is a 100% authentic Mulberry Classic Bayswater Special in Fuchsia Polished Buffalo Leather with brushed goldtone hardware.

 An intensely 'PINK' hot-pink and oh my goodness, what an incredible leather! A gloriously thick & strong, wrinkly-crinkly, deeply grained hide that's about as scratch resistant as you can get....its demi-sheen repels water with ease and the resilience of the buffalo hide make it the ultimate, practical choice.

Called a 'Special' as made specifically for Outlets (not for retail in mainline shops or M.com) these pieces specifications vary from the standard design.

Usually only made in very small quantities from left over runs of leather, this one has been made without a cloche and square patches for the domed feet, the top flap is lined in leather and the interior is additionally lined with a lovely, hardy, grossgrain fabric.

Specials are not 'Substandards' (ie have a quality fault) nor are they Limited Editions, though often they become quite sought after pieces as the leather types can become rare due to the small numbers they are made in.

A fabulous leather in every way. Amazing colour, incredible texture...thick and robust with just enough suppleness to slouch whilst still standing up when empty.

Just under 1kg in her stocking feet, so a relatively light Bayswater compared to most, she's been carried very lightly and without very close inspection looks nearly new.

The most creasily textured side panels I've ever seen, there's no wear to the leather whatsoever. Corners are pristine with just a tiny surface scuff to the base trim on the front LH side, (see close up photo above).

Shoulder straps have been stored downwards so bases are slightly softened and there is some age related inking drying and loss, (this bag is 10 years old!!!!).

A small, thin smudge of stray inking to the rear shoulder strap, on the RH side and also to the surface on the two lower handle patch straps on the rear of the bag. These are so slight they are extremely difficult to see with the naked eye, (photos provided above)

Hardware is excellent with some minor scratching to the sides of the turnlock end.

The inside of the top flap is lined in fuschia polished buffalo leather and the main interior section in an entirely clean, fuschia grossgrain fabric with a side, zipped, slip pocket.
